New Pink Floyd Book To Be Released In February

January 10, 2018

In celebration of the 45th Anniversary of PINK FLOYD's epic Dark Side of the Moon album, a new book about how PINK FLOYD reinvented themselves after the departure of founding member SYD BARRETT is set for February.

The book, Reinventing Pink Floyd: From Syd Barrett To The Dark Side Of The Moon, was written by Bill Kopp and lays out exactly what The Floyd did moving forward after Barrett left the group in 1968. History has shown that the groundbreaking group fared remarkably well post-Syd, recording and releasing some incredible, imaginative, and stirring albums that continue to inspire and influence scores of musicians and music fans! Mr. Kopp details how the band members rebranded themselves, creating a new musical identity, a new songwriting style, and overall changed the way albums were recorded, produced, and enjoyed by listeners. The author goes into great detail about how this was no easy task.

Focusing on the years 1968-1973, Mr. Kopp chronicles the various innovations and musical breakthroughs made by Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Richard Wright, & Nick Mason that over time have remained influential right up until the present day. The book also presents a context of the band's history, culture, and music and how the group's trial-by-fire experimentation all coalesced into the enduring superstardom that helps sustain the legacy of Pink Floyd.

The book (from Rowman & Littlefield Publishing) will be available starting February 15th.
