WATCH: The Velvet Underground's Moe Tucker and John Cale Reunite to Perform "I'm Waiting for the Man"

October 12, 2017

The surviving members of The Velvet Underground (Maureen “Moe” Tucker and John Cale) reunited over the summer at New York’s Beacon Theatre for the GRAMMY Salute To Music Legends 2017™ concert.

There, The Velvet Underground—one of this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award honorees, among Shirley Caesar, Ahmad Jamal, Charley Pride, Jimmie Rodgers, Nina Simone, and Sly Stone—performed “I’m Waiting for the Man” off the band’s iconic 1967 debut album, The Velvet Underground & Nico.

Below, catch Cale on keys and vocals while Tucker hits the woodblock—all backed by Cale’s band.

While it’s not the same without Lou Reed, it’s still great to see the band back together again.

The band will also play “Sunday Morning” off the same album on the two-hour concert special, which is a part of PBS’ Great Performances, reports Rolling Stone. Interested? The celebration airs on PBS this Friday, October 13 at 9 PM local time.
