Hear Gregg Allman's First Posthumous Song, "My Only True Friend"

And watch the accompanying lyric video

Gregg Allman of The Allman Brothers Band

It’s been just two months since Gregg Allman sadly passed away, but we’re already hearing the first of the late Allman Brothers Band singer’s posthumous music. Called “My Only True Friend,” the song comes with an accompanying lyric video that alternates between photos of Allman and beautiful nature shots.

Rolling Stone reports that Allman’s final album will feature a good chunk of covers, with songs by Bob Dylan, the Grateful Dead, Jackson Brown, and Tim Buckley. It should also have a sound reminiscent of Allman’s classic from ’73, Laid Back.

Diggin' the song? It can be found on his forthcoming and final album, Southern Blood, which follows Allman’s 2011 solo album, Low Country Blues, and will be released September 8 via Rounder Records.
