Having wrapped her year-long solo tour, Ann Wilson of Heart is gearing up for another one—but not before finishing her latest solo project.

Wilson is back in the studio recording Songs for the Living: Vol 1, an album she’s expected to release this summer. The album serves to honor rockers we’ve lost over the past few years, including Leonard Cohen, David Bowie, Tom Petty, Chris Cornell, and Amy Winehouse, among others.

"I feel these souls have made a real, lasting contribution to the art of the popular song, and to honor them is my deepest pleasure,” says Wilson.

Working with original Heart producer Mike Flicker, Wilson’s kicking it old school, using a tape recorder to make the album. And while we don’t have a full track list yet, it’s been confirmed that Winehouse's "Back to Black," Lesley Gore's "You Don't Own Me," and the Eagles' "Life in the Fast Lane" (in honor of the late Glenn Frey) will all be on the album.

As for live music, Wilson will head out on a brief solo headlining tour next week before joining up with Jeff Beck and Paul Rodgers—two of her favorites—along their Stars Align Tour, which kicks off July 18 in West Valley City, UT, wrapping August 26 in Tampa.
