GREGG ALLMAN's Final LP, Southern Blood, To Be Released Soon

May 30, 2017

GREGG ALLMAN's death on May 27th has robbed the world of one of the greatest blues singers, and the singer's storied legacy will have written its last chapter when his final (studio) solo album is released sometime this year. ALLMAN, who succumbed to liver cancer after fighting the good fight, spent the final months of his life finishing up the album, which had been in the works for a few years.

In an interview with Yahoo Music, Allman's long-time manager, MICHAEL LEHMAN, said that even with Allman's health problems, he lit up during the Southern Blood studio sessions. With the reality of his life's end at hand, Gregg wanted to make sure that his final recordings would be the perfect conclusion to his incredible career, and he was very involved with talks concerning the preservation of his legacy.

Of the content of the new album, Mr. Lehman said it’ll include both original music and covers, although he promised Gregg he wouldn’t share much else surrounding the album’s details so it’ll be a nice surprise for his fans and friends alike.

Southern Blood does NOT yet have a release date, but it IS available for pre-order HERE. Mr. Lehman went on to say that while the current focus is on the album's release and promotion, there's a very real possibility that future live, archival concert recordings will be made available at some point in the future. Thank you, GREGG ALLMAN. Rest in peace, and rock on!
